Starting out with Lesson Study

Our Geography NQT Tom O’Dowd led last week’s 15-Minute Forum on Lesson Study and how it might be the way forward for lesson observations here at Wellacre:

Lesson study has been described in this blog from the Teacher Development Trust as a “breathtakingly simple and common-sense way of teachers developing their own practice” and seems to be a perfect match for the culture of openness and sharing we’re trying to develop at Wellacre. Without claiming to be an expert (I’m not), the aim of the 15-Minute Forum this week was simply to spread the word about Lesson Study and get some commitment from colleagues to trial it. I’ll report back next term on our progress!

Oh, it did also happen to be the best-attended #15MF yet. Just saying.

There are some great blogs already out there on other school’s experiences with Lesson Study. Here are a few of my favourites:

If you use any of the ideas from this post, please leave a comment below and let us know how well it worked!
